Meet The Founder
Taylor Crawford-Williams is the owner of Free Your Roots which is grounded in wellness. She’s a wife and mother who’s using her experience as a cosmetology instructor and chef to transform the way that haircare is done. With a strong love for the farm to table concept, she believes that the products that we use should be crafted with real ingredients as well. Through education and demonstration, she’s passionate about showing others how to heal both internally and externally.
Where We Started
I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist turned instructor for 10+ years. The ability to give people a boost of confidence always touched my heart. That love grew deeper when I began to receive clients that suffered with alopecia. Lots of things make me smile, but the face of a woman who feels beautiful after getting her hair done is one that is at the top.
In 2009/2010, I began to mix oils in my kitchen while living in Kansas City, MO. At the time, one of my clients was suffering with alopecia so I created an oil blend for her. Week after week, we were both amazed at the growth taking place in the area that was balding. She gave me the idea to bottle up the oil blend and sell it but at the time, I was just giving it to my clients.
Years passed and I finally gathered up enough money to buy everything that was needed to launch the Free Your Roots product line. In May of 2016 I made my first bulk order of raw materials. The passion to see true transformation in the hair of those that I service has immensely grown since then.

This Is Personal
I started losing my hair in high school. Although devastating, I did not understand at the time how to properly treat my scalp or what was actually going on so weaves, braids, and wigs were my coverup. Over the years, my scalp got worse and while practicing as a cosmetologist it was clear that I wasn’t the only woman suffering with alopecia.
What I wish I’d known then is how our diet, stress, and other demands in life play a major part in aiding hair loss. After thirteen years of not seeing any growth in the crown of my head, my scalp is finally on the road to being healed. I credit this to God and transitioning into a holistic approach with the foods that I consume and the products that I use. My desire is to share everything that I’ve learned and am learning on this journey.
